Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Act.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of catchment areas in which actual drainage operations had commenced (a) from the passage of the Arterial Drainage Act in 1945 up to February, 1948; (b) from February, 1948, to 13th June, 1951, and (c) from 13th June, 1951, to the present day.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the names of the catchment areas in which surveys have been or are being undertaken for the purpose of carrying out arterial drainage under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945; (b) the date in each case on which the survey was commenced and, if completed, the date of completion; (c) the period during which the scheme was on exhibition in each case; (d) the date on which the scheme was confirmed in each case; (e) the date on which actual drainage operations commenced in each case; and (f) the names of the next catchment areas on which surveys will be undertaken.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to answer Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together.

The answer to Question No. 47, which also contains the information sought by Deputy Donnellan, is, for the most part, in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

With regard to (f) of Question No. 47, the next catchment areas on which it is proposed to undertake surveys are the Ballyteigue and Cahore minor catchments in County Wexford and the Boyne major catchment in Counties Cavan, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.
