Vol. 145 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position regarding the acquisition of the Walsh estate, Brownstown, County Mayo.

The proceedings for the acquisition of these lands are at the final stages but possession has not yet been obtained by the Land Commission.

Can the Minister indicate the date on which possession will be taken?

There is a balance of the estate comprising 17 acres for which proceedings have been instituted. I think it is the intention of the inspectors that as far as possible the two portions of the estate should be dealt with together. In all the circumstances of the case, they feel that it would be advisable to defer taking possession until November next.
