Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Homespun Industry.

asked the Minister for Defence if in order to further the Donegal homespun industry he will recommend to the Army authorities the issue of Donegal homespun civilian suits to all soldiers on their discharge from the Defence Forces.

Soldiers have an option of accepting a civilian suit or a cash allowance in lieu, on discharge or on transfer to the Reserve.

I shall, however, have the question of the issue of homespun civilian suits to soldiers on discharge from the Defence Forces examined. This will be without prejudice to the soldier's present right to opt for the cash allowance.
