Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork National School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will expedite arrangements for the provision of flush sanitation at Durrus National School as the present position is causing serious upset to children and parents.

I assume that the school referred to in the Deputy's question is Carrigboy National School, Durrus, County Cork.

A scheme for the provision of water-flushed sanitation at this school is being prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works and I understand from the commissioners that they hope to be in a position to furnish plans and an estimate of the cost to my Department at an early date. On receipt of the plans and estimate my Department will communicate with the reverend manager in the matter. Every effort will be made to expedite the case.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that for over three years now the Department of Education and the Board of Works have been submitting plans to provide for a lavatory in a national school?
