Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the residents of Ballyferriter village, Dingle, County Kerry, have made several requests to the Kerry County Council for a sewerage scheme for the district; and, if so, if he will state if he will make available a full cost State grant for the carrying out of the scheme from the National Development Fund as the village is in a Gaeltacht area.

I am not aware of the representations referred to in the first part of the Deputy's question.

The provision of a sewerage scheme for Ballyferriter is primarily a matter for the sanitary authority and no proposal has been submitted to my Department.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the present water supply for the village of Abbeydorney, County Kerry, is most inadequate; and if he will now state if his Department have received any proposals from the local authority in connection with the provision of an adequate water supply for the district.

The provision of water supplies is primarily a matter for the sanitary authority. No proposal for the improvement of the supply in question has been submitted to me.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will now state the present position as regards the proposed water scheme for Lixnaw, County Kerry; and if he will indicate when work is likely to commence on the scheme.

The latest information I have from the sanitary authority in regard to this scheme is that they are approaching the landowners with a view to the acquisition of the necessary land and water rights by agreement.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position as regards the proposed new water scheme for the village of Ballyheigue, County Kerry; and if he will indicate when the scheme is likely to be advertised for the acceptance of tenders.

Approval has been issued to the invitation of tenders for this scheme. It is understood that the necessary lands and water rights have been acquired by agreement and that the scheme may now be advertised for tenders.
