Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bovine Tuberculosis.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether in view of the announcement that the scheme for the eradication of bovine tuberculosis will be commenced in Counties Limerick and Clare as soon as possible, he will state when it is aimed to extend the scheme to the rest of the country and in particular to County Cork.

Mr. Walsh

As indicated in the announcement referred to, bovine tuberculosis eradication measures of a general character will be introduced in all counties outside Counties Limerick and Clare at the same time as intensive measures are introduced in County Clare and it is hoped that the necessary approval will be available soon for the use of moneys from the American Grant Counterpart Special Account in that connection. It is aimed to extend the intensive measures to County Cork and other counties, area by area, as quickly as administrative, technical and financial circumstances permit.
