Vol. 146 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission has any proposals for the acquisition and/or sub-division of lands in East Limerick; and, if so, if he will state the location of such lands, and when it is expected acquisition and/or sub-division will take place.

East Limerick is not an inspectorate entity from Land Commission point of view and to supply the information sought by the Deputy would entail an expenditure of time and effort which I feel would not be justified. If the Deputy should wish to ascertain the position in regard to any particular case or cases, I will be glad to supply the information.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission proposes to rearrange and divide the holdings at Tawnyshane, Conloon, Derrylahan, Ardvarney, Derrynadivva and Sarnaght in the Lucan estate, Castlebar, County Mayo, among the tenants of these congested localities.

Several holdings in these townlands have been rearranged and vested in tenant purchasers within the past two years. Some tenants have been migrated and with the land made available it is hoped to rearrange the remaining holdings but progress will depend on the co-operation of the tenants.
