Vol. 147 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether an application has been received under the rural improvements scheme for the repair of an accommodation road at Falleenadatha and Gannavane Upper in the electoral division of Doon West, County Limerick; and whether, in view of the fact that the landowners in the area are very small holders and unable to make a contribution to the cost, he will make a grant to cover the full cost in this case.

An application has been received for the repair of a road in the area referred to. According to the latest available returns, the unemployment position in the electoral division of Doon West does not warrant the allocation of a full-cost employment schemes grant. The proposal can be considered only under the terms of the rural improvements scheme, which require the applicants to contribute a portion of the cost. The scale of contributions under the scheme is related to the average rateable valuations of the holdings of the beneficiaries.
