Vol. 147 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - C.I.E. Pensions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will request C.I.E. to make an early decision regarding the improved pension scheme submitted by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union on behalf of the employees.

Under the provisions of the Transport Act, 1950, the responsibility for initiating amendments to existing C.I.E. superannuation schemes rests with the board. I understand that negotiations regarding the level of pensions have been in progress for some time past between C.I.E. and the trade unions. The negotiations are still in progress.
