Vol. 147 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Land for Trees.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the Baltinglass district, County Wicklow:— (1) the total acreage of land offered for sale to the Forestry Branch of his Department for afforestation, (2) the acreage acquired by that branch, and (3) the acreage for the acquisition of which negotiations are at present in progress.

The total area of land offered for forestry purposes in the Baltinglass district is 617½ acres. Of this area 107 acres have been acquired. Agreement to purchase has been reached on offers totalling 95 acres and title investigations are in progress. Negotiations on price are in progress on offers totalling 126 acres. The total of the remaining offers is dependent on acquisition of areas which are in the stages of title clearance or negotiation.
