Vol. 147 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Louth Water Scheme Extensions.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether proposals for the extension of a water scheme from Kilsaran, County Louth, to Blackrock via Dromiskin have been received in his Department, and, if so, if he will expedite a decision in the matter; further, when work on the scheme is likely to commence.

The last documents in connection with this scheme, submitted to the Department in August, were dealt with in a letter issued on the 27th September. There is, therefore, no decision from the Department awaited but the Department awaits a revised specification and a bill of quantities so that examination of the final contract documents can be completed. In the circumstances I cannot say when the work is likely to be commenced.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether proposals for the augmentation of the water supply scheme for Dundalk have been submitted to his Department, and, if so, if he will state the present position in the matter; further, when work on the scheme is likely to commence.

Plans and specification for the first section of the water supply augmentation scheme for Dundalk have been approved in principle, subject to the incorporation of amendments. The specification for the pumping plant for the scheme has also been approved subject to amendments.

A bill of quantities has yet to be submitted for approval before tenders can be invited. I am not, therefore, in a position to state when work on the scheme is likely to be commenced.
