Vol. 147 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Estates

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Shaw estate, Tallagh, County Mayo, and, if so, with what result.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission acquired the Rufus Carson estate, Tallagh, Belmullet, and when it is proposed to divide it.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to deal with Questions Nos. 15 and 25 together.

The Carson holdings were resumed in 1950 and 1951. A satisfactory scheme for the division of these holdings cannot be prepared until the Shaw estate, which is in the same townland, is also available. Acquisition proceedings for this estate are in the final stages but a difficulty has arisen about the taking over of possession.
