Vol. 148 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Women Gardaí.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the present position in regard to the proposal to establish a women's section of the Garda Síochána.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether he proposes to introduce proposals for legislation to establish a women's police force, and, if so, when.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together.

The matter is still under consideration.

I got that reply about four months ago. Could the Minister not give any definite date?

My predecessors had the matter under consideration for the last ten years. You do not expect me, in a few months, to suggest my predecessors were all wrong?
