Vol. 148 No. 3

Report of the Special Committee on the Factories Bill, 1954.

The report of the Committee is as follows:—

The Special Committee has gone through the Bill and has made amendments thereto. The Bill, as amended, is reported to the Dáil.

I move:—

(1) that the Report do lie upon the Table;

(2) that the Report and Proceedings of the Committee, be printed.

Agreed.

I suggest putting down the Report Stage for 9th March. It was agreed at the Committee to give sufficient time to enable members to submit amendments, if they so desired, when they saw the Bill reprinted after it came from the Committee. I undertook on that occasion that there would be at least one week between the submission of the ministerial amendments and the Report Stage, but I think Deputy Lemass suggested that it might, perhaps, be desirable to give a fortnight between the issue of the ministerial amendments and the date of the Report Stage.

Mr. Lemass

I think that would be preferable.

I will provisionally order the Report Stage for 9th March, and, if that does not enable Deputies to see the official amendments a fortnight before, we will adjust the date.

Report Stage ordered for 9th March, 1955.
