Vol. 148 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state, in respect of County Donegal (a) the number of claims under the Military Service Pensions Acts, which have been rejected, and (b) the number of petitions on which a decision is still pending.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the number of new applications under the Military Service Pensions Acts, 1924 and 1934, submitted by persons from County Donegal following the enactment of the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949, and the number of petitions for reinvestigation under the terms of that Act of applications which were rejected under the Military Service Pensions Acts, 1924 and 1934.

On that assumption the information required by the Deputy is as follows:—

(a) Number of claims which have been rejected

492

(b) Number of claims still under consideration by the Board of Assessors and the Referee

108

Will the Minister say if the figures given represent the total number of appeals under the 1949 Act from Donegal and if any certificates were granted since 1949?

The number of claims submitted subsequent to the 1949 Act was 620. Out of that number 20 certificates have been granted, 492 refused and 108 still pending.
