Vol. 149 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Land Allocations.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ascertain whether all the land on the Moore estate at Money-moore, Longwood, County Meath, will be allotted to local uneconomic holders, and further, the cause of the delay in dividing this estate, and whether it will be divided this year.

A scheme for this estate has not yet been approved but it is hoped that the lands can be allotted this year. The claims of local uneconomic holders will be fully considered. Possession of the lands was obtained only recently and there has been no delay in dealing with the matter.

Is the Minister aware that, because of the dilly-dallying of the Land Commission over the past three years, the man who owned this land has taken three crops of wheat off it — in three years? The result is that the incoming tenants will get only a dust bowl.

I am not responsible for what happened in the past three years.
