Vol. 149 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maize and Feeding Barley Imports.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (1) the quantity in tons and the average c.i.f. price per ton of maize corn and feeding barley respectively, imported in 1954, and (2) the average price per ton charged by millers for maize and barley meal in 1954.

During the year 1954 there were imported 170,477 tons of maize of which the average c.i.f. price was £25 1s. per ton. The corresponding imports of barley (other than seed for sowing) were 45,977 tons at an average c.i.f. price per ton of £21 7s. Feeding barley is not separately distinguished in the import statistics.

Statistics of the average prices charged by millers for maize and barley meal are not available.
