Vol. 149 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Milk in Cork.

asked the Minister for Health whether he proposes to make an Order under Section 33 of the Milk and Dairies Act, 1935, to prohibit as from 31st October, 1955, the sale of other than pasteurised or highest grade milk within the Cork County Borough.

I have received an application from the Cork Corporation to make such an Order prohibiting the sale of milk in Cork County Borough as from 31st October, 1955, unless such milk is sold as pasteurised milk or highest grade milk. I am in consultation with the Minister for Agriculture on the matter generally and particularly on the question of the adequacy of supplies of pasteurised milk likely to be available in the area as from 31st October, 1955, and am not as yet in a position to indicate whether or not the Order requested will be made.
