Vol. 151 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total acreages of land (a) acquired and (b) allotted by the Irish Land Commission in each of the following counties: Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Westmeath, during each of the years 1953-54 and 1954-55.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

NOTE.—Figures for the year 1954-55 are, in all cases, subject to final check.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total area of (a) untenanted land, and (b) tenanted land acquired or resumed by the Irish Land Commission during the year 1954-55.

Provisional figures for the year ended 31st March, 1955, are as follows:—

(1) Untenanted lands acquired 14,952

(2) Tenanted lands resumed 1,982

These figures do not include areas taken over from migrants or surrendered to the Land Commission in connection with rearrangement schemes; the grand total, including such areas, would be 29,224 acres.
