Vol. 152 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telegrams.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why it is not possible to send telegrams from many sub-post offices throughout the country.

The acceptance of telegrams at sub-post offices involves certain additional expenditure which is not warranted if the telegraph traffic is very light. However, with the virtual completion of the scheme for providing a telephone in every rural sub-post office, it is now possible to send a telegram from practically all such non-telegraph sub-post offices by telephoning the message to the nearest telegraph office.
