Vol. 153 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Costings Commission.

asked the Minister for Agriculture (a) if he will ensure that sufficient suitable staff is assigned to the Milk Costings Commission to enable it to bring its work to a final conclusion before 1st January, 1956, and (b) what has been the cost of the commission to date.

(a) the question of the staff needed for the work of the Milk Production Costs Committee is entirely one for the committee. I am always prepared to consider any request from the committee for additional staff to enable it to complete its work. In fact, in response to a request made on the 17th October last by the technical director of the committee, I loaned the committee on the 19th October four officers from my Department's staff, which number the technical director hopes will enable the committee's work to be completed early in the new year.

(b) The cost of the committee up to the 20th October, 1955, was £30,339.
