Vol. 153 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industries for Cashel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has received representations in connection with the setting up of certain industries in Cashel, County Tipperary, and, if so, the nature of such representations; and if he will give the matter favourable consideration.

I have received representations from local interests in Cashel in regard to the possibility of securing the establishment of an industry in the town. Representatives of the local interests have been interviewed by officers of my Department and by the Industrial Development Authority and have been given information and guidance likely to be of assistance to them in formulating a specific industrial proposal. The Deputy will appreciate that the starting of an industry in any area is primarily a matter for private enterprise and initiative, but if the local interests succeed in formulating any sound industrial project for Cashel, I will do everything in my power to assist in bringing it to fruition.
