Vol. 153 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the E.S.B. are aware that the residents of the Ballymacarberry district, County Waterford, desire the early development of rural electrification in the area, and, if so, when the board expect to be in a position to start work.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Ballymacarberry area has been considered for selection by the board on a number of occasions, but has not so far been selected, as the returns for the area have not compared favourably with those for other areas still awaiting development in the Waterford area. The area will be reconsidered by the board in due course, and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns for the area then compare with those for other areas in the Waterford district awaiting development.
