Vol. 153 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Record of Salmon Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he maintains a record of the prices obtained for Irish salmon on the public market in Great Britain, and, if not, if he will have such a record prepared retrospectively to the date of decontrol of such prices by the British Government.

The answer to the first part of the question is "No." As to the second part of the question, there is no information available to my Department from which the suggested record could be prepared. I may add that the published Trade Statistics give figures as to the value and quantity of salmon exported each year from which an indication of the amount received by exporters per cwt. can be obtained.

Is it a fact then that the Fisheries Branch will not be able to state what the prices will be for Irish salmon on the English market?

I have replied to the question addressed to me by Deputy Bartley.
