Vol. 154 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Telephone Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether arrangements have yet been made for the installation of an automatic telephone service in County Donegal.

The answer is in the negative, though individual exchanges in County Donegal may be selected as suitable for early conversion to automatic working. Generally speaking, improvements in trunk service must precede plans for automatic working, particularly in areas such as County Donegal where many exchanges are small and isolated and facilities for dialling of local calls would in consequence be of a very limited value.
