I move:—

That the Ceann Comhairle direct the Clerk of the Dáil to issue his Writ for the election of a member to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the membership of the present Dáil consequent on the death of Deputy Alfred Byrne, a member for the Borough Constituency of Dublin North (East).

Question put and agreed to.

Mr. de Valera

May I ask a question? I understand that these elections will be held on the new register which comes into force on April 15th. I am told copies of that register are not available in Dublin. What is the position I wonder?

That is the first I heard of it. I do not know. I will make inquiries and communicate with the Deputy.

Mr. de Valera

I expect the Government will see that copies are made available immediately.

Certainly.
