Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Land Allotments and Exchanges.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings allotted by the Land Commission in the year ended 31st March, 1956, in migrations and exchanges to landowners in County Mayo, and the number of holdings so arranged by each of the Land Commission offices in Ballina and Castlebar.

During the year ended 31st March, 1956, the Land Commission allotted by way of exchange new holdings to 33 landholders from County Mayo, of which 18 were from North Mayo and 15 from South Mayo. In addition to these distant exchanges, 156 holdings in North Mayo and 59 holdings in South Mayo were the subject of local exchanges effected in connection with rearrangement schemes carried out in the same period.
