Vol. 157 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Water Supply Grants.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of applications for water supply grants submitted by applicants from the portion of Inchigeela village in the West Cork County Council district, and the action taken by his Department in respect of each application.

The Deputy's question appears to relate to the whole period of operation of Section 7 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1952. The whole of Cork County is treated as a unit for the purpose of these grants. The information asked for is, therefore, not readily available in the records of my Department. If the Deputy supplies the names of any applicants in whose cases he is interested I shall forward him the information he requires.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary not aware that I have repeatedly submitted that information? Two applications from this district were accepted, while the application of Miss Cotter, Cappinclare, Inchigeela, which is similar in all respects to the other applications, has repeatedly been refused for a number of years, despite representations.

The Deputy will appreciate that, since I became Parliamentary Secretary, a very large number of applications have gone through my hands and that I find it difficult to state just now if I have seen Miss Cotter's application. However, if he will furnish the information again, I will look into it.
