Written Answers. - Deliveries of Irish Wheat.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the quantity of Irish wheat of the 1955 harvest delivered by growers to millers or their agents in the period (a) up to 31st December, 1955, and (b) 1st January, 1956, to 31st May, 1956.

The net quantity of native wheat delivered to all flour mills, wheatenmeal mills and permit mills in the period 1st September, 1955, to 31st December, 1955, amounted to 2,558,239 barrels. The corresponding figures for the period 1st January, 1956, to 31st March, 1956, the latest period for which the information is available, was 49,567 barrels.

It may be added that deliveries of native wheat of the 1955 harvest to members of the Flour Millers' Irish Wheat Association amounted to 2,455,704 barrels in the period up to 31st December, 1955, and to 119,647 barrels in the period 1st January, 1956, to 2nd June, 1956.
