Vol. 158 No. 1

Written Answers. - Post Office Industrial Consultant.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the date upon which the services of the special industrial consultant were terminated, and what general recommendations made by him remain to be implemented, or have been suspended indefinitely; further, whether it is proposed to institute an incentive bonus scheme for certain types of engineering works.

The industrial consultant engaged on the investigation of working methods and organisation in the Engineering Branch of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs completed his assignment on the 23rd July, 1955.

The examination of the recommendations, which in many cases involves consultation with staff associations or other affected interests, has not advanced sufficiently far to say whether any major recommendation will be rejected or have its implementation deferred indefinitely. No decision has been taken to institute an incentive bonus scheme.
