Vol. 158 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Unemployment Statistics.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state (a) the number of male persons claiming unemployment benefit at the Cork employment exchange at the latest available date and at the corresponding date last year, (b) the number of such persons who were employed in the motor assembly trade, and (c) the total number of unemployed persons registered at the Cork employment exchange for either benefit or assistance at each of the dates in question.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

Statement showing, in respect of Cork Employment Exchange, for each of the dates mentioned (a) the number of male persons claiming Unemployment Benefit, (b) the number of such persons whose last employment was in the motor assembly trade, and (c) the total number of persons registered for unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance.
