Vol. 158 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shortage of Turbary in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the acute shortage of turf-plots among people residing in the vicinity of Balla, County Mayo; and when the Land Commission propose to examine the position with a view to allocating bog-plots to applicants before the next turf-cutting season commences.

This matter has already been under examination and the Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of turbary with which to relieve the shortage. Pending the conclusion of these proceedings, it is not possible to say what arrangements can be made.
