Vol. 159 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erris Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to divide this year the lands of Mrs. Conway, Shramore, Bangor-Erris, among adjoining uneconomic landowners.

Whilst these lands came on hands only recently I expect that it will be possible to have them divided by the end of this year. The claims of all local uneconomic holders will be fully considered before allotment takes place.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will consider the propriety of acquiring the untenanted lands on the Coyne estate, Kiltaney, Bangor-Erris.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands but I have asked them to investigate the matter.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the year in which the lands of the late Michael McAndrew, Kiltaney, Bangor-Erris, were acquired by the Land Commission, and the reason for the delay in allotting these lands.

The answer to the first part of the question is 1939.

Due to the fact that inspectors were engaged in more pressing work, lettings were made pending the formulation of a scheme for its disposal.

The lands were allotted last March to the parties who had been taking lettings.
