Vol. 159 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in relation to (a) the Cork County Borough and (b) the County of Cork, the number of applicants who made default in repayment of loans advanced under the Small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts so that the local authority had to resume possession of the mortgaged property; and whether the local authorities concerned suffered any financial loss in respect of such default and, if so, to what extent in each case.

Up to 31st March, 1955, which is the latest date for which particulars regarding the Cork Corporation are available, two borrowers had defaulted and had been dispossessed by them. Information as to the amount of any financial loss suffered by the corporation in respect of such default is not available in my Department.

Up to 31st March, 1956, no borrower had been dispossessed by the Cork County Council on account of default in payment of loan instalments.
