Vol. 159 No. 11

Questions— Oral Answers. - Activities of Undesirable Aliens.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that a Dublin residence has recently been used by a group of London gangsters and their associates as a rendezvous, and whether, in the light of current reports concerning criminal activities in London and in view of public concern about the presence of such criminals here, he will state what steps he proposes to take to ensure that this country will not be used as a base of operations by these undesirable aliens.

I presume the first part of the Deputy's question refers to the two Englishmen who were arrested in Dublin recently. As their case is, I understand, still sub-judice in the English courts I do not propose to make a statement in this matter. As regards the second part of the question, I have seen the reports referred to and the House can be assured that continuous vigilance will be exercised by the police to prevent the development of such activities here.
