Vol. 159 No. 11

Questions— Oral Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is yet in a position to inform the Waterford County Council of his decision in regard to the compulsory purchase Order asked for by the council in respect of the balance of cottage sites that were the subject of an inquiry some six months ago.

A number of issues have arisen in connection with this Order which need careful consideration. I am having the matter dealt with as a matter of urgency and will communicate with the local authority as quickly as possible.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to be in a position to give a decision on the application of the Dungarvan Urban District Council for a compulsory purchase order in respect of the housing site at Bohereennatrace, Dungarvan.

The compulsory purchase Order referred to in the Deputy's question was confirmed by me on the 17th July, 1956, and copies of the confirming Order will be forwarded to the Urban District Council in the course of the next few days.

asked the Minister for Local Government when a decision will be made on compulsory purchase Orders in respect of Kerry County Council cottage sites.

There are two compulsory purchase Orders from Kerry County Council before me. I have completed consideration of one, that is, Kerry County (Rural) (Compulsory) No. 1 Labourers Acts Scheme, 1955 (opposed portion) and I hope to be able to convey a decision to the council very shortly.

The second Order is the Kerry County (Rural) (Compulsory) No. 2 Labourers Acts Scheme, 1955 (opposed portion). A public local inquiry into this Order is being arranged. When the report of the inspector who will hold the inquiry is received, the Order will be determined without undue delay.
