Vol. 160 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decentralisation of Industry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what is the accepted policy of decentralisation of industry referred to by the Taoiseach on 5th October in connection with grants for new industries.

The accepted policy of decentralisation of industry is to encourage, so far as it is practicable to do so, the dispersal of industry throughout the country, so that areas away from the centres of largest population shall secure industrial projects and thereby share in the employment and other advantages resulting from industrial development.

Does the Minister infer that no grants will be given to new industries in built-up areas or county boroughs?

Will the Deputy put down a question on that subject? That is not the question he has asked.

I have asked the Minister what is the accepted policy of decentralisation of industry referred to by the Taoiseach on the 5th October in connection with grants for new industries.

That does not seem to be the question the Deputy is asking now.

The Deputy has not asked what he is now trying to ask.
