Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Kerry Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission are aware that Mr. Michael J. Moriarty and his daughter, Mrs. Hannah Sweeney, Caragh Lake, County Kerry, purchased the holding of Mary Brien, deceased, record No. S.21245; and if the commission will give an assurance that this holding will not be acquired.

The Land Commission are aware that a contract has been entered into by one of the parties mentioned by the Deputy for the purchase of this holding, which they contemplated acquiring for their statutory purposes. Representations urging that the holding be not acquired are being examined, and a decision in the matter will be reached as early as possible.

Is the Minister aware that as far as we can judge, the policy of the Land Commission in County Kerry is that, instead of transferring people to the Midlands in the usual way, they are acquiring small holdings from people who have emigrated to England to earn their livelihood; and is he further aware that recently the Land Commission acquired——

The Deputy does not seem to be asking a question related to the question on the paper.

It is a similar type of case.

I cannot accept that.
