Vol. 160 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Centres.

asked the Minister for Lands when development work will commence on the new forestry centre at Buncrana.

My Department expects to be in a position to commence operations at the new forestry centre at Buncrana within a month.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the necessity for the establishment of a forestry centre in the Caherciveen district, and if he is now in a position to operate forestry development schemes at Killogrove and Canburrin, Caherciveen.

My Department has received two offers of land totalling 539 acres in the townland of Killogrove, Caherciveen. These areas were inspected some time ago and further investigations are now proceeding. Every effort will be made to expedite a decision in these cases.

A tentative offer of 200 acres was received last May from a landholder in the townland of Canburrin. So far, this man has not replied to an inquiry and reminders addressed to him by my Department and it is not certain that he wishes to proceed with the offer.

In addition, four other offers totalling 174 acres have been received recently from landholders in the Caherciveen district and preliminary investigations are in hand.
