Vol. 160 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Positions in State-Sponsored Bodies.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the fact that clerical positions in State-sponsored organisations, which are under the aegis of his Department, are confined to boys and girls who hold secondary school leaving certificates, he will ask such concerns to amend regulations in this respect so that all boys and girls can compete for these appointments until such time as every child, who wishes to obtain it, is provided with free secondary and university education.

The matter of educational qualifications required for clerical positions in such organisations is one for the organisations concerned. I have no function in such cases and I am not, therefore, prepared to intervene.
