Vol. 160 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Donegal Mineral Exploration.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has granted prospecting facilities to mining companies in respect of certain areas in West Donegal; if any progress has been made in connection with the proposed exploration; and what individual deposits have been earmarked for exploration or development.

No prospecting facilities have been sought by or granted to any mining company in respect of areas in West Donegal. I will, of course, be prepared to grant prospecting facilities under the Minerals Development Act, 1940, in relation to mineral deposits in West Donegal to any applicant who can satisfy the customary conditions as to financial and technical resources.
