Vol. 160 No. 6

Personal Explanation by the Taoiseach.

On a matter of personal explanation—I would like to reply to a statement that I accused Deputy MacEntee yesterday of telling lies——

No, "making lies."

I want to assure the Deputy that he is quite mistaken and that what I said was "making noise".

I shall accept the Taoiseach's statement unreservedly, but I must say his consonants got a little bit mixed as his pronouncements sometimes do.

I would say this, a Cheann Comhairle, if you will allow me, in corroboration of what I say: I think Deputy MacEntee is sufficiently sensitive to know that if I had used those words he would have been up on his feet with a bang.

No, I would give the Taoiseach time to think it over and to heel-tap.
