I have to announce that the Clerk of the Dáil has received from the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy a communication to the effect that Seán Dunne, a member of the Dáil, was adjudicated a bankrupt on the 4th October, 1956, and that an application to show cause against the adjudication was disallowed on the 13th November, 1956. A telephone message received this afternoon by the Clerk from the Official Assignee indicates, I understand, that there are proceedings for an appeal.
It appears proper that the general question of the effect of the adjudication of bankruptcy on Mr. Dunne's membership of the Dáil be referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges for examination and report.
