Vol. 160 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Canadian Demand for Tweed Goods.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the demand in Manitoba, Canada, for tweed goods of Irish manufacture, and, if so, whether this trade is being fully developed.

I am aware that, following on special Irish Trade Week displays sponsored by Coras Tráchtála Teo., in over 150 retail stores in Winnipeg last year, there is a growing demand in the State of Manitoba generally for tweed goods of Irish manufacture, and that that demand is being satisfactorily met.

In association with the manufacturers, C.T.T. is at present engaged in a special promotional campaign, supported by appropriate advertising, designed to expand further the sales of Irish woollen fabrics throughout Canada.
