Vol. 160 No. 10

Civil Service Regulation Bill, 1956—Report and Final Stages.

Deputy Byrne's amendment is out of order since the matter therein did not arise on the Committee Stage. It is, therefore, not an amendment proper to the Report Stage. There is another amendment in the name of the Minister.

I move amendment No. 2:—

In page 9, to delete lines 48 to 50 and substitute:—

(a) It appears to that suspending authority that the civil servant has been guilty of grave misconduct or of grave irregularity warranting disciplinary action, or

(b) It appears to that suspending authority that the public interest might be prejudiced by allowing the civil servant to remain on duty, or.

The amendment which has been circulated is the amendment I undertook on Committee Stage yesterday to circulate following our consideration of the three amendments that were withdrawn yesterday.

I do not want to interrupt, but personally I have not seen the amendment.

I understood the amendment was circulated.

It is going round now.

It was circulated in the House during the course of the discussion on the Coast Protection Bill but possibly the fog created in connection with that Bill——

The Deputy should be given a couple of minutes to look at it.

Does the Deputy ask time to consider the amendment?

No. I was merely pointing out that I had not seen it.

I made inquiries and was informed that the amendment was circulated to Deputies.

Amendment agreed to.
Bill, as amended, received for final consideration.
Agreed to take Final Stage now.
Question: "That the Bill do now pass," put and agreed to.
