Vol. 160 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position in relation to the proposed sewerage schemes at Bandon and Ringaskiddy, County Cork, plans for which were forwarded to his Department by the Cork County Council.

Contract documents for both schemes have been approved for some time.

Tenders have been received by the local authority for Bandon main drainage scheme and the question of their proceeding further at present is under consideration.

In September last, the local authority were reminded about the necessity for acquiring any necessary lands and rights before undertaking the work and they were informed that when they were in a position to invite tenders for Ringaskiddy sewerage scheme the Department should be consulted. No further communication on the matter has since been received.

"Under consideration."

No, not under consideration. The local authority have been advised that, if they acquire certain land, we can get on with the job. They have not replied to our request.
