Supplementary Questions—Statement by Ceann Comhairle.

I should like to make this short observation respecting supplementary questions. Members are aware that there are 108 questions for oral answer on to-day's Order Paper and that the time allotted to them is only one hour. There are 24 questions on to-morrow's Paper. This being so the Chair urges the exercise of some degree of self-restraint in asking supplementary questions. Deputies should bear in mind the rights of Members whose questions are at the end of the paper and who are anxious to hear their replies to-day and not to-morrow. In the interests of the latter Members, the Chair must occasionally intervene to secure that their rights are preserved by limiting supplementary questions.
