Vol. 160 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (resumed). - Secondary Schools Examinations.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of each of the years 1943 to 1956 the number of boys and girls, respectively, taking (i) French, (ii) German, (iii) Spanish, (iv) Italian and (v) any other modern language other than Irish and English, in the secondary schools intermediate certificate and leaving certificate examinations.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

TABLE showing for each of the years 1943 to 1956 the number of boys and girls, respectively, taking (i) French, (ii) German, (iii) Spanish, and (iv) Italian at the Intermediate and Leaving Certificate Examinations.
