Vol. 160 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Advisory Councils and Similar Bodies: Social Welfare.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will enumerate and name, stating the purpose and function of each one, the several advisory or consultative councils, commissions, committees and similar bodies appointed by him since 1st June, 1954.

On 21st December, 1955, I appointed a Commission on Workmen's Compensation with the following terms of reference:—

"To examine and report on the present system of workmen's compensation and the question of replacing it by a scheme of national insurance, or otherwise, and to make recommendations."

This is the only body of the kind mentioned in the Deputy's question that has been appointed by me since 1st June, 1954.
