Vol. 160 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rush (Dublin) School.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that there is serious overcrowding in the girls' national school in Rush, and that there are 80 pupils in one room; and, if so, if he will arrange for the building of an extra room as soon as possible.

I am aware that there is overcrowding in the girls' National School in Rush. My Department has asked the Commissioners of Public Works to prepare sketch plans of a scheme for the extension of the schoolhouse and it is expected that the plans will be completed shortly. As soon as they have been received my Department will communicate with the Reverend Manager in regard to certain arrangements which will have to be made in order to bring the case to the stage at which a grant towards the cost of the scheme could be sanctioned, subject to funds being available.
